Video Description:
A Second Life Machinima by Robbie Dingo.
(Duration 4'17")
"Frameless heads on nameless walls, with eyes that watch the world and can't forget - like the strangers that you've met". [Don McLean]. Ever looked at your favorite painting and wished you could wander inside, to look at it from different perspectives? Spend a single day in one of mine, from e
arly sunrise on a new day, to dusk when lights come on in cosy homes; through a peaceful night, till morning. Shot on location in Second Life then post-produced, this was an idea I had a while ago. The Sim in this work was on temporary loan so it's all been swept away now, leaving only the film b
ehind. It was always intended however that the video would be the end product, not the build. This work is dedicated to the many weird and very wonderful strangers from around the globe I have met, but have never really met. Higher quality version is available over at my blog. Search for 'My Dig
ital Double Robbie' in Google. For more info on how this was put together, please read http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2007/07/remake-the-star.html#more over at New World Notes.

Very interesting and thought-provoking project. The music selection was, of course, perfect. I never thought much about the lyrics back when this was released, but the animation actually gave the music life. Job well done!!

AMAZING. Seriously, one of the most innovative ideas I've seen. The film, soooo well done, as well as the building was friggin unbelivably executed. Too bad it doesnt' exist anymore. Mind if I ask what video capture technique you used?

wouldnt it be amazing if a lot more paintings would be brought to life like this to an even higher standard & shown in cinemas ?
i belive this will happen one day- it seems like the logical consequence to me.
all these paintings are really just blueprints for something else, waiting for technology to take them further and further..
maybe one day in the future, we will be able to walk around holographic worlds based on certain paintings. i would love to. chris absolutearts com/ulrich

Ingenious, virtual reality is a way we can get deeper into the fantastic things we love, what a great idea! People in 2nd life are building medieval towns and vampire castles. A bridge between dreams and being awake. Wonderful. Anton Brzezinski - Surreal Art

That is very impressive, I would not have dreamed of doing something like that - it is very insperational - I'm sure if Vincent van Gough was still around, he would have loved this tribute to his work as well as Don Mcleans song "Vincent"
