"ChuckHitler" heh, i love how atheism=ignorance. there are thousands of different religions and gods "believed" to be true. if you're christian, why don't you believe allah or zues? You can't can't disprove their existence, so then they MUST exist, right? so which god created the universe? which god will send you to heaven? i really hope more people get to watch carl's videos, it's truly a fascinating universe we live in! rip carl

"So long as the universe had a beginning, we could suppose it had a creator. But if the universe is really completely self-contained, having no boundary or edge, it would have neither beginning nor end: it would simply be. What place, then, for a creator?" - Stephen Hawking

It's hard not to detect deep seaded religiousity in Sagan's rap. Here is the nexus where Science does aspire to, if not become religion, begin to replace religion's function.

Not religiosity, ... ( 3 days ago by Cricut99)
Not religiosity, curiosity. Religions are based on belief without proof, without any attempt really to understand. Sagan's view is the opposite, that we should ask, seek, try to explain, try to find answers, not just to fall back on texts produced by who knows who with who knows what agenda and regard them as the truth.
Certainly Sagan ... ( 3 days ago by ShahidMiller)
Certainly Sagan endorse that, yes. Sagan agreed with the idea that we should investigate the universe using the scientific method in particular.
I say "religiosity" not religion. There's a difference; religion refers to a knowledge system/system of belief. Religiosity refers to an emotive feeling (some people connect it to the temporal lobe) that is associated with "spiritual" feelings. When Sagan says "we yearn to return to the Cosmos" an
d we are "star stuff", I think he is playing on that.
