"Now you just ... ( 4 weeks ago by ExtantDodo)
"Now you just avoided the question" Your straw man had nothing to do with modern physics or mathematics. There was nothing to address. "Any observation will do." An event within space-time is hardly evidence for the ill conceived nothing of "outside of space-time."
"So because nobody ... ( 4 weeks ago by ExtantDodo)
"So because nobody saw an electron then that must also be speculation right" We'll let the Nobel committee know that you wish to strip J.J. Thompson of his award since you doubt the reality of cathode ray tubes. "How's that?, clarify" It's a straw man.
"Actually I don't, ... ( 4 weeks ago by ExtantDodo)
"Actually I don't, I thought I knew but when I saw things like the multiverse or string theory or singularities then I had second thoughts." Perhaps, you should start with Weinberg's text. "How's that?" It attacks a flawed caricature rather the the actual science.
"Furthermore ... ( 4 weeks ago by ExtantDodo)
"Furthermore according to physicist and mathematician Prof. Frank J. Tipler..." that's another quaint argument from authority. No more of these. "which Tipler identifies as being God." We assume that he asked for government issued photo id.
"It's possible that ... ( 4 weeks ago by ExtantDodo)
"It's possible that they are quote mines, I took them from a website afterall." Imagine that, a copy-paste-job. "But then again why would they say things like "the beginning of time" unless the universe had a beginning?" It's not like they were books written for the lay public. No, that could never ever happen.
"and why can't I ... ( 4 weeks ago by ExtantDodo)
"and why can't I assert that you also just quote mined if you wanted to prove the inconsistency of creationism?" We include the full claim made by Mr. Hovind along with all of his evidence to support that claim. We do not state that he is wrong because his claims are inconsistent, but because the evidence refutes him completely.
"might as well say ... ( 4 weeks ago by ExtantDodo)
"might as well say you're quote mining when you say that genesis chapter 1 and 2 contradict each other" You could claim such, but you would then show a misunderstanding of what a quote mine is. "So I should stop quoting experts?" You should be citing evidence, not random blurbs.
"Actually i'm not ... ( 4 weeks ago by ExtantDodo)
"Actually i'm not the only one, Newton..." Our collective patience has been thoroughly exhausted. With this argument from authority, you now join the other creationists who couldn't take a hint in time out. "There is also the mind-body problem" No, neuroscience is doing a remarkable job of elucidating higher cognitive function without needing to invoke magic.
Sorry, but I ... ( 4 weeks ago by Liaoxiornis)
Sorry, but I couldn't watch this vid all the way through. I just couldn't bear the smug self assured manner of this bigot, this liar, this snake oil purveyor who thinks himself so much better than those whose labours of a lifetime sought in the most honest means available to reveal truth and share that truth for the betterment of us all. That's real honesty and respect. And what does this fool who is humbled by nothing produce? phht

I think you would find that most everyone that understands evolution is humbled by it. The same is true with most anyone who understands any large-scale explanatory theory.
Ironically, Hovind ... ( 4 weeks ago by imabeastnimadawg)
Ironically, Hovind is the one that is not humble, he believes he knows absolutely the truth and is willfully ignorant to the nature of the ideas he attacks. He doesn't have a clue what he is talking about, but pretends to and uses logical fallacies to get people to reject them without ever trying to understand them, because what he knows is 'right' and the real 'truth'. That is far from humility.

I like how it looks like he's about to try to blurt out a point (not that he has any) but totally digresses with "Hey, did you know the word universe means a single spoken sentence?"
Yes. Even many in ... ( 4 weeks ago by Liaoxiornis)
Yes. Even many in some of the great religions will admit that at the end of knowledge lies humility. To see oneself in the perspectives borne of knowledge and understanding is to immediately see your miniscule size and temporary nature. How does a person who is so puffed up that he insults all others with his words and presence hope to ever be convincing? He is a very sad figure indeed.
Even within his own ... ( 4 weeks ago by Liaoxiornis)
Even within his own purview Hovind is a sad failure. Imagine if you really knew that there was an all pervading, all knowing magical being who was pure love incarnate and was the source and cause of everything? Imagine if you even glimpsed for a moment what eternality is? Do you think that you'd behave like Hovind? I'd suggest that this man needs to do lots of reading, listening and thinking before he sets himself up as a man who can parade his vast knowledge before our ignorance.

I have one question ... ( 4 weeks ago by UNFFwildcard)
I have one question WRT the Big Bang:
Wouldn't you need to know the mass, velocity and location relative to all other pieces of matter within the universe in order to figure out whether the univese will eventually retract on itself into a Big Crunch, or whether it will continue expanding ad infinitum but at a slower and slower speed?
Could someone please inform me as to what evidence there is that there will be a Big Crunch as opposed to an infinite expansion?
I should also add ... ( 4 weeks ago by UNFFwildcard)
I should also add that while the Big Bang theory was indeed started by Lemaitre, he was a Jesuit priest and professer of astronomy at Universitaire Catholique de Louvain, who formulated the theory using his own cosmological observations combined with Hubbles red shift phenomenon along with several derivations of Einsteins relativity equations made by Alexander Friedmann.
Oh the irony Kent Hovind.

I love videos like this. There nothing better than to watch creationists-clowns being blown out of the water.

Oh my god! I've seen this before! They showed this video to me when I went to bible camp (In my city there's no other kind of summer camp). I renounced my faith soon after watching it (The Kent Hovind video, not the review, just to be clear). You should watch all of it, it's filled with pitfalls that LITERALLY an eight year old can see through. Sam Harris (The End of Faith, READ IT!)is right, Religion can't survive an elementary education.

Right now, the ... ( 3 weeks ago by middlekk)
Right now, the smart money is on infinite expansion. But dark energy could still support the big crunch. Of course, our sun and the earth will be gone for billions, if not trillions of years before any of that happens.
Even though his ... ( 3 weeks ago by centrus88)
Even though his opinions may have been too hastily formulated, Tesla was just as much of a genius as Einstein, and I don't think anybody here, not the OP quote-mining him nor ExtantDodo is aware of the full implications of Tesla's work. Both are renegades in the very murky world of quantum physics, and while I agree that Einstein's postulations have more understanding now, I believe time will vindicate Tesla and harmonize his work with that of Einstein or present new directions to explore.
