Agreed; unlike the Beatles, where listening to their outtakes and demos reveals they had an almost preternatural ability to pick out just the right versions of their songs for official release, Lennon's solo career is filled with examples of the exact opposite. My personal fave versions of MANY of his songs are live, demo, and studio outtakes. This performance, "Anthology" versions of "Oh, My Love", "God", "I Found Out", "I'm Losing You", "How Do You Sleep", demo/"Acoustic" of "Look At Me", etc

Agreed;another example of a Lennon solo song done better in an alternate setting compared to the "official" release. I also prefer the demo/Acoustic "Look At Me", J.L. Anthology versions of "God", "Woman Is the Nigger of the World" (live), "Oh My Love", "I Found Out", "How Do You Sleep?", just to name some off the top of my head. On the other hand, ironically The Beatles had an almost preternatural ability to create and pickout the definitive versions of their songs for official release.
