Van Den Hoogenband is no match for current breed of young swimmers. In the Beijing Olympics, he got "trashed" by Alain Bernard and Eamon Sullivan. Hoogenband's best time and world record is a far cry from the WR set by Eamon Sullivan and gold medallist Alain Bernard. Jason Lezak which came in 3rd in the 100m freestyle was also quicker than Van Den Hoogenband's previous WR.

You must be a 12 year old kid resorting to this sort of low-class response. Some day there will be a new generation of swimmers surpassing Sullivan or Bernard's performance but what I have written are facts and nobody can deny that. Hoogenband is clearly out of contention in this new era of young generation sensations like Bernard and Sullivan. The verdict is clear from everyone to judge, and you are an idiot to contradict that.

It is obvious you cannot accept the fact that Hoogenband is outclassed by a field of new generation swimmers. You are stupid not to realize that you have agreed with my point in Hoogenband's prime has passed and is now retired. That is because he cannot match the new breed of swimmers anymore. Hoogenband has said this himself in an interview after the Olympics

Hoogenband participated in the Beijing Olympics hoping to retain his title but eventually finished out of the medal contention and didn't go onto the podium. He was a great swimmer in the past but he's now overshadowed by the emergence of a new force in Sullivan and Bernard. It's not only Hoogenband but former greats such as Popov as well.
I still don't understand what is your problem here in showing inconsistency in your remarks. You actually contradict yourself in your own statement.

Well....thats life .the new will replace the old. The main point is i love to see the attitude or Hoogie and Popov..though they are rivals..they so respect each other and seeing them talking at the end of almost every swim/ finals shows that they share a respectable rivalry. Nowadays rivalry sometimes lurks at the verge of enmity..which is sad.

Het bijzondere afscheid is je van harte gegund en dat er maar veel jong talent mag zijn aangespoord(en worden aangespoord) door jouw voorbeeld.
