| Ah, but if you use POP3 and the Google Desktop Search, you can do the same thing, can't you? Until your hard drive gets wiped in a massive BSoD, as which point all your GMail-using friends will laugh and laugh. :-( Best use POP3 with GMail and leave the messages on the server as a fallback, eh? |

| I was looking for that feature a cople months ago when my dad finally switched. Couldn't find it at the time, though I thought I'd seen it. He had several thousand messages on his old ISP email account (POP3 and maybe IMAP, but he used their realyl awful webmail) and was going through them manually, one by one, to delete/backup, which horrified me to no end. GMail to the rescue! |
