The Big Boys were not the most powerful articulated locomotives. That honor belongs to the "Yellowstones'. To say that the Big Boy was the strongest locomotive is wrong. Great video. Does any one have have videos on the Yellowstones?

At least we have 8 Big Boys, to choose from, to put back in service. If the Brits can bring a A1 4-6-2 back to life from drawing board of all places, then we can certainly get one of our Big Boys steaming again. With the immaculate preserved condition the 4014 is in, its as if it's JUST sitting and waiting there to get a quick class 5 and fired up again. Probrably cost less to get the 4014 overhauled and recertified, then it cost the red coats to build that A1 from scratch.

I know of one in the Steamtown Museum in Scranton, PA. but, I don't know of any plans to restore it.

There's one in Pomona which is said to be in the best condition.
If you build it once, you can restore/build it again. The thing is interest and money.
