Well... to be honest... i think that the public awareness videos that are broadcast on tv in the USA are pretty funny ! haha... they make me laugh so much.. they are pathetic in comparison to our Great British productions ! hahaha... Oh... and top gear is amazing ! :) hahaha

A lady was killed on Monday morning a few miles south of where Top Gear staged their crash.
In icy conditions, her Rover 216 collided with a Ford Transit just past a crossing near Spalding, Lincolnshire, and was pushed back onto the track as the barriers came down. 37 seconds later she was hit by a passenger train. The car broke in two, throwing the driver clear, but she died at the sc
ene. Instead of getting out immediately, she had tried to drive off the crossing. Don't do it! Get out.

It is never okay to ignore railroad-crossing signals whether youre in Britain or the USA There meant to keep you safe from on coming trains and if you have someone else in the vehicle like a child you can put them in danger too. So I say when you came to a railroad-crossing do like the video says and stop for trains, it may make you a little late still it is better then being in the hospital or even dead.

I just started watching top gear. very funny show.

The second loco pushed the first up to 80 mph then braked (note the "STOP" sign clipped to the other track near the snail) and let it run on into the car.
This was because they didn't want to risk a driver's safety in the engine that hit the car. Extra ballast was piled against the outside of the rails so that the car's wheels dragged through it and slowed the unmanned loco down. They stopped in about 4100 feet.

Also, wouldn't the extra ballast keep the sleepers from being damaged. It allowed the car to stay of them. As there concrete, any chip and it has to be replaced.

The extra ballast did protect the sleepers, but Network Rail later spent a week-end cleaning up, replacing loose clips, etc.
The entire stretch of track was due for replacement in 2008 (see Hibaldstow, Lincolnshire on Google Earth), so they could run the test in comparative safety.

I don't knpw if being picked off a leaf, placed on a rail for a few seconds, photographed and returned to your leaf hurts, but I'd guess it probably didn't. :-)
He/she was never on the same track as the loco, in any case.
